Friday, November 4

The New York City Marathon is tomorrow.  The Boston Marathon was this past April.  They are the two most celebrated marathons in the United States.

One runs 26.2 miles, as was generally approximated to have been done in the legend of the soldier Pheidippides from a battlefield at the site of the town of Marathon, Greece, to Athens in 490 B.C., so as to announce the miraculous defeat of the greater in number Persians.

I ran the Dallas White Rock Marathon in 2009 to celebrate my 50th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, including the year of exercise and dietary training.

Psalm 26:2 – Lord…test my heart and mind.
